Ronald H. Sargis’ practice is devoted to bankruptcy, debtor/creditor rights, secured transactions and collection practices. He has served as a Trustee, as well as attorney for trustees, debtors, creditors and creditors’ committees, has successfully completed plans of reorganization or orderly liquidation in several Chapter 11 bankruptcies, and handled appeals before BAP, the District Court of the Eastern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Sargis received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1979 and his Juris Doctor degree with distinction in 1982 from McGeorge School of Law. He was awarded the Order of the Coif and became a Member of the Traynor Honor Society. He is licensed to practice law in the State of California and the Eastern and Northern Districts of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. He clerked for one year with the Honorable Loren S. Dahl, United States Bankruptcy Judge, and since l983 has been practicing with Hefner, Stark & Marois, LLP. He became a partner of the firm in 1989.
Mr. Sargis has one of the most active bankruptcy and creditors rights practices in the Sacramento area. He counsels clients with loan restructures both for borrowers and lending institutions, secured commercial transactions and oil and gas leases and he serves as general counsel for California Association of Collectors, Inc. He has lectured at many local colleges on bankruptcy, secured transactions and collection practices, as well as having prepared the handbooks and presented multiple day long classes on creditor’s rights and enforcement of judgments to members of the collection industry. In 1994 he received his certification as a Creditors’ Rights specialist from the Commercial Law League of America.
