Joel S. Levy practices extensively in the areas of commercial real estate and business transactions and business litigation. Mr. Levy represents individuals and companies in a wide variety of areas, including real estate purchases and sale, leasing, financing, and entity formation. Mr. Levy also represents companies and individuals concerning various business contract issues, including advising and representing clients in contract formation, performance and disputes. Mr. Levy has represented the regional multiple listing service for Sacramento and surrounding counties for several years, and has overseen numerous technological and organizational accomplishments as this company has become one of the largest multiple listing services in the state.
Mr. Levy graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1977. He received his Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge School of Law, with honors, in 1981. He was also awarded Order of the Coif, became a member of the Traynor Honor Society, and was a Recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Evidence in law school. Since 1981, Mr. Levy has been practicing law at Hefner, Stark & Marois, LLP. He became a partner of the firm in 1988.
Employing his experience in a wide variety of matters, Mr. Levy has represented clients in numerous complex business and real estate transactional matters, as well as disputes involving commercial and residential projects of varying sizes, including sales and financing of hotels, office buildings, shopping centers and industrial properties. Mr. Levy has represented landlords in the negotiation and drafting of numerous commercial leases with both national and local tenants, primarily for office and retail properties.
Mr. Levy has been a member and leader of a number of local community organizations. He is a past Board member of Hillel for UC Davis and California State University at Sacramento, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors and is Past President of Jewish Family Service of Sacramento.
