Our firm offers considerable experience in a broad variety of organizations, serving as general, regional or local counsel to borrowers, institutional lenders, commercial banks, farm credit institutions, financial institutions, leasing companies and wholesale/retail credit organizations. The firm has served for more than a quarter century as General Counsel to the California Association of Collectors. In this capacity, the firm has taken a position of leadership in the creation and revision of financial regulations. Members of the Hefner firm have authored numerous proposed changes to California law in the area of debt collection practices, including exemptions, pre-filing attachment procedures, receiverships, attachment bonds and post-judgment collection procedures. Attorneys in the firm specialize in the preparation of loan documents, loan restructures, collection actions including mixed collateral foreclosures, secured transactions, lender liability, farm credit statutes and regulations, and truth-in-lending.
